MERCY of fatigue, 
a little NERVY and restless.
Then, a moment of sinking into 
the reading and the snuggle.

Carefully brushes flat PITCH, 
cuts LOWER branches
of the woodland BRAKE. 
Finds what remains of departed
squirrel. “Mostly bones”
is reply when we QUERY. 
Over blueberry pancakes 
conversation trends NERDY. 
Reverses course to tale 
of NERVY time up high, 
leaning from a ladder 
risking life and limb, 
in act of service for friends. 
While downpour drenches you, 
we splash in puddles of kindness.
